The weekends are full of fun-filled activities with various performances of classical or western music and drama in open-air theatre. India’s rural landscape has nurtured a rich tradition of theatre, and local drama groups will bring alive folk tales and reincarnate into heroes of legend. Folk performances from the region as well as from far, are encouraged. Every weekend, there are performances like Dholle, Kunnita/Pooja Kunnitha, Kollatta, Kamsalle, Veeraghase and Veerabhadra.
The best way to explore the neighbouring city of Mysore, is on foot. Red Earth organises a range of tours that help you soak in the history, culture and uniqueness of Karnataka’s most famed city. Mysore is just an hour’s drive from the resort.
If you are blissfully ensconced in the resort, head to our activity centre to enjoy a few indoor games and movie evenings with films on wildlife. We also organise a bonfire, a barbecue by the riverside and a dance floor by the pool.
The specially appointed kids’ play area keeps children cheerfully occupied for hours. We also have a swimming pool for children, and our restaurant offers a special menu just for them.
Kabini is ideally situated at the foothills of the Western Ghats. You can venture into the scenic hill towns of Coorg and Wayanad or simply take in the rich biodiversity of the Nilgiri hills. We are associated with reputed resorts and home stays throughout the area, and can assist you in organising the next leg of your journey.
And if all this is too much, why not simply unwind with a book at the pool side. Or snooze in a cosy hammock under the mango tree overlooking the Kabini backwaters? Or relax at the colonial style bar with a cold beer. Or climb up the tree house and read a book undisturbed.
Silence is the essence of Red earth and the night sky is a delight for a star gazer.
