Red Earth Kabini is promoted by Ravi & Rachel and is an owner driven property. Ravi is a Coffee planter and Rachel is a film maker. They spent many years living and planting coffee in Papua New Guinea. While they have no prior hospitality background, their warmth and gracious plantation style hospitality can easily surpass that of many luxury hotels – they love entertaining and meeting people.
Red Earth is their way of giving back to society for all that it has given to them. They have spent all their time and energy in training and giving employment to both men and women from the neighbouring villages. The people have responded in equal measure and we have a very fine team which believes that the property is their own. Leaders have emerged from within. Training and skill development goes on and we are quite happy if someone has a better job as it gives us an opportunity to train the next person.
Red earth is also a testimony of the promoter’s commitment to nature and the environment. All buildings in mud with minimum use of steel and cement ,no pesticides and a garden which is a riot of colours , several trees and fruiting plants and a home to plenty of birds. We support the local community in sourcing produce from them be it milk, Vegetables, poultry and whatever they can produce.
Red Earth is about experiencing its magic, in its green environment , in its rustic yet luxurious cottages and the hospitality of its polite and humble rural Karnataka staff.
